Mondsee
The Salzkammergut or Lakes & Mountains district - known for its crystal lakes nestled among the rolling foothills of the Alps - accommodates several picturesque villages and towns. One of these gems is the town of Mondsee on the lake with the same name. The UNESCO World Heritage Site's history dates back 6000 years and meets appealing architecture and impressive nature offering abundant outdoor activities, not only in summer but year round.
Ceremony
The ceremony hall with its wooden decor is a hidden gem and the celebrator of marriage makes you feel as if you were the only bridal couple in the world. The Cathedral next door offers a magnificent setting for your religious ceremony. It is the location of the wedding scene in the movie "The Sound of Music", but visitors from around the world also come to see one of the most beautifully renovated Baroque churches in the region. A quaint hillside chapel is available for a more intimate location for couples wishing for more privacy. It is also possible to be married during a vessel voyage across the lake or dance on the waters for the reception.
Reception
Couples may spend the night in the same palace they get married in before taking a horse-drawn wedding carriage ride through the village and along the lake.
From the opulence of a palace or on board an exclusive vessel to the luxury 4-star restaurant private lounge - all offering something special for every newly weds' personal taste.
